CGI technology

CGI technology was originally introduced in 1993 as part of the web server NCSA HTTPd (National Center for Supercomputing Applications HTTP daemon). The first CGI v.1.1 was released in 1997.

The most popular and widely used Apache HTTP Server was originally based on the NCSA HTTP web server which is actually a continuation of the first web server on the Internet – CERN httpd.
